Style to Rescue

Style to Rescue, sponsored by Vita Canis, is a charity dog grooming competition that raises substantial funds to support dog rescue organisations. The event is always well attended and run on a strict not for profit basis by volunteers. When it first began, in 2018, the show was designed to recognise the ability of dog groomers. These days groomers do their stuff for free and never know in advance which breed of dog they going to be grooming.

It was my first time at the event, and it was a very busy and early start for all. Each dog is bathed and groomed and there are a maximum of 30 dogs allowed for each breed group. That’s a lot of dogs and lot of work. I was surprised how many different dog breeds and charities took part in the event. STECS was one of eight dog rescue charities supported by the event this year. We had a total of 20 Scottie’s that took part which included our three (Morag, Isla, and our Wheaten Jock).

We had a small STECS merchandising stand, and I made cupcakes for the baking competition. There were special prizes for various categories, one of which was best dogtransformation which was won by a STECS entrant named Marley. STECS dogs won three out of the top ten places. Reserve best in show went to Molly (owned by Christine and Paul Yates), our Wheaton boy Jock was placed sixth and I was blown away when my Isla won best in show! To say I was emotional was an understatement. Amie Gale, a wonderful lady, was Isla’s dog groomer and it was her first time entering this event, so she was emotional as well. I don’t know how people feel when they win big competitions, but I was very proud of my darling girl and boy that day. As I am proud of all our Scotties every day.

Altogether it was a very long but fabulous day. The event was well organised with great facilities for both humans and dogs. I felt honoured and humbled to have met so many wonderful people who put all this effort into help the rescue charities who, in turn, do amazing work. Thank you.
