STECS Xmas Party 2022

Our STECS Xmas party on 4 December 2022 was one of the first events where we could gather, so it was a great turnout with around 120 people and 40 dogs in total. Some people turned up in Christmas jumpers and some dogs were in fancy dress – all with the hope of meeting Santa Paws (alias Paul Yates). Hermes, the Scottie STECS helped rescue from Ukraine, got a place on Santa’s knee.

Margaret Mabon, our president, and her husband were cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Their pasta bake and Shepherd’s pie went down a treat – as did the fabulous cakes. All the food sold out by the end of the day. Ian Gower manned the STECS merchandising stall selling Christmas cards, bobble hats, scarves, and other Scottie goodies. We also had craft, teddy bear, and memorabilia stands as well as a tombola. There were doggy fancy dress competitions and prizes for the best dog trick, handsomest hound and more. There was also an auction for a beautiful painting of Judy the Scottie which raised £45. Thanks to Jackie Collis for donating it (see Rainbow Bridge).

We also drew the raffle tickets for the Xmas prize draw: congratulations to Beverley Watchorn who won the Radley bag; Claire Brown who won the hamper and Mike Butcher who won the John Lewis voucher. Everybody said how wonderful the day was and how good it was to all be back together again. Here’s to next time. By Karen Randall
